Property Tax Credit for 100% Disabled Veterans

100% service-connected disabled veterans may claim the Missouri Property Tax Credit (Circuit Breaker), up to $1,100 for owners.

This is a credit, not a full exemption. A broader homestead exemption passed the legislature but is contingent on a voter-approved amendment and is NOT yet in force.

Homestead of a former POW with a total service-connected disability is fully exempt from property tax.

Requires BOTH former-POW status AND a total service-connected disability.

Military Retirement Fully Deductible

100% of military retirement benefits are exempt from Missouri income tax (since 2006).

Not rating-gated. VA disability compensation is not taxed.

Free Disabled Veteran (DV) License Plates

Honorably discharged Missouri-resident veterans with a service-connected disability get one free set of DV plates.

Requires a VA statement (under one year old) that the disability is service-connected; no minimum percentage specified.

Recreation & licensesTypically requires a 60%+ combined rating

Permit-Free Hunting and Fishing (60%+)

Veterans with a 60%+ service-related disability (or former POWs) may hunt small game and fish without a permit.

Excludes bear, deer, elk, turkey, and trapping; carry VA certification.
