Homestead Exemption (disabled)

Disabled veterans qualify for the homestead exemption, reducing taxable assessed value ($49,100 for 2025-2026).

Available to veterans classified totally disabled (service-connected); confirm whether your rating meets the 'totally disabled' standard with your PVA.

Hunting/Fishing License Fee Exemption

Kentucky resident veterans 50%+ disabled may hunt and fish without buying a license, or buy a discounted combo license.

Tuition Waiver for Dependents/Spouse (100% disabled)

Spouse and children of a 100% service-connected (or P&T) disabled veteran pay no tuition or matriculation fees at Kentucky state-supported colleges.

Per KRS 164.515: qualifies if P&T for pension purposes OR 100% for compensation. Children covered until degree, 45 months, or age 26.

Military Retirement / Disability Pay Exclusion

Kentucky excludes up to $31,110 of pension income (including military retired pay) and does not tax military disability retirement pay.
